Launched in 2014, FarmApp is a Columbian-Australian food production management platform. Accessible online and via the iOS and Android mobile applications, FarmApp developed an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) software-based service specifically targeted for the monitoring of crop yields. The software consists of geo-referenced scouting and fumigation apps along with sensors, helping bring automated Internet of Things (IoT) devices to the traditionally outdated agricultural sector. By utilizing Farmapp, farmers can automate their greenhouses in order to receive IPM-tailored insights and visualizations straight to their devices, thereby increasing efficiency of crop monitoring. The platform also allows farmers to keep a spray diary, in which they receive guided help in order to understand where and how fertilizers and agricultural chemicals should be applied given their crops. While comprehensive as a farm management tool, users must have access to the internet and proper devices in order to access Farmapp. By providing over farms on three different continents with quality analytics, Farmapp helps ensure a thriving crop through the optimization of IPM given specific conditions within any given greenhouse.

Air Pollution Robot
The dangers of air pollution to human health are well documented, though the traditional methodology of collecting and reporting on sample lags behind the need to keep abreast and regulate air pollution in a meaningful amount of time. The use of drones and robots have been identified by researchers as resources that can be tweaked […]

Telematic Rivers
Erica Kermani’s artwork seeks to answer a central question: if rivers were seeing an equal, living entity, would humans take issues like climate change threatening them more seriously? In his year-long art exhibition in 2017, Kermani, in collaboration with Diana Salcedo & Jeana Chesnik, created a new forum of interaction between humans and rivers to […]

Co-occupied Boundaries
Art is easily found in nature but rarely is what considered art today inherently natural. The concept of co-occupied mediums that serve to be both functional for nature and aesthetically pleasing to people is being actively explored by Asya Ilgun and Phil Ayres, from the CITAstudio at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In […]
